Itinerary

Upon arrival at Aswan Airport, a Coralon Travel professional tour guide will be waiting for you to start your enjoyable sightseeing tour today with the dazzling Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to Isis. Philae was one of the most important and famous centers of the cult of Isis in the southern Nile Valley. The principal and impressive temple was developed extensively during the Ptolemaic period, beginning under the well-known king Ptolemy II, and remarkably remained an active center of ancient Egyptian religion into the Byzantine period. After the temple ceased to function as a center of ancient Egyptian worship, its Great Hypostyle Hall was transformed into a majestic Christian church dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint Stephen. Beautiful Christian crosses carved above the ancient Egyptian columns and inscriptions remain as a testament to that era to this day.

You will see the largest single piece of granite ever cut by humans: the famous Unfinished Obelisk of Hatshepsut. Had its carving and erection been completed, it would have weighed over 1,168 tons and stood approximately 42 meters tall—making it the tallest obelisk in the entire ancient world.

We will transfer you to your magnificent dahabiya to check in and enjoy your first delicious lunch on board. Your cruise will start sailing north. When you arrive, you will visit the remarkable Kom Ombo Temple, which is an extraordinary Ptolemaic-Roman sanctuary associated with two principal deities: the falcon-headed Horus and the crocodile god Sobek. Its unique religious arrangement reflects the great importance of both deities at this strategic Nile location. Archaeological evidence also shows that this amazing site was older than the surviving Ptolemaic structure, with earlier impressive remains connected with New Kingdom rulers. We will take you back to your beautiful cruise to have dinner and spend the night there.
