Your exciting adventure begins with an early pickup from your hotel in Hurghada, and you will be comfortably transferred to Luxor in a private and air-conditioned vehicle. After arriving in Luxor, you will meet your expert guide to begin exploring the city's extraordinary and impressive collection of ancient monuments.
You will visit the stunning Valley of the Kings, which is situated on Luxor's West Bank. This secluded desert valley served as the principal burial ground for many New Kingdom pharaohs, particularly during the 18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties. The enchanting tombs in this valley were richly decorated with religious texts and symbolic scenes from the well-known Book of the Dead, the Amduat, and the Book of Gates to help the deceased king overcome supernatural dangers and achieve eternal life.
We will take you to El Deir el-Bahari, where the legendary Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut rises in three beautiful terraces beneath a dramatic limestone cliff. The temple also contained magnificent chapels dedicated to famous deities, including Hathor and Anubis, reflecting its great religious importance beyond the commemoration of the powerful queen herself.
You will also see the two unrivalled giant Colossi of Memnon, which date back to the famous King Amenhotep III, one of the kings of the 18th Dynasty – the most powerful ruling dynasty in ancient Egyptian history. The famous Roman Emperor Hadrian and his wife came to the colossi specifically to listen to their singing, and many other great figures and historians were keen to inscribe their names on the statues.
We will take you to enjoy a delightful lunch at a local restaurant. You will visit the spectacular Karnak Temple Complex, which is one of the largest and most historically significant religious sites in pharaonic Egypt. Karnak also preserves the legacy of powerful and famous rulers such as Hatshepsut and Thutmose III. Hatshepsut's surviving obelisk is a particularly striking reminder of the extraordinary resources and great technical skill devoted to royal monuments.
