King Seti began its construction, and it was completed by his son Ramses II, whose reign was marked by extensive building projects and is considered the most powerful period in Egyptian history. In addition to its unique inscriptions, the temple houses what is known as the ‘List of Kings of Abydos’, a list comprising the names of 76 kings of ancient Egypt.

The Temple of Dendera is considered one of the most prominent ancient Egyptian temples; it was a Centre for the worship of the goddess Hathor. The temple is distinguished by its unique architecture and rich inscriptions depicting various aspects of religious, mythological, astronomical, and ritual life, making it a testament to the religious and intellectual development of ancient Egyptian civilization. The temple features a massive gateway dating from the Roman period, leading into a spacious courtyard surrounded by a number of columns adorned with capitals bearing the face of the goddess Hathor.
