Your professional tour guide and private driver will pick you up from your hotel, cruise, or another agreed location in Aswan. Your first destination will be the magnificent Philae Temple, reached by a scenic boat ride across the Nile to the fantastic Agilkia Island. Philae Temple was one of the most important and famous sacred centers devoted to Isis, the goddess of motherhood, magic, and protection. This remarkable surviving temple complex was constructed and expanded primarily during the well-known Ptolemaic and Roman periods, beginning with the great temple of Isis under the powerful Ptolemy II Philadelphus.
Your second stop will be the well-known Aswan High Dam, which is one of the most consequential and smart engineering projects in modern Egyptian history. The High Dam was especially developed to give Egypt greater control over the Nile's annual flooding, increase water storage, support agricultural development, and generate great hydroelectric power. Its construction transformed the landscape south of Aswan by creating the enormous and beautiful reservoir now known as Lake Nasser. It's time now for a delicious lunch meal at a local restaurant in Aswan.
Your final archaeological stop is the enormous Unfinished Obelisk, located in the famous Aswan's ancient granite quarries. The huge obelisk is believed to have been commissioned during the reign of the powerful queen Hatshepsut, around the 15th century BC. Ancient workers began cutting this special monument directly from the granite bedrock. However, unfortunately, significant flaws and fissures appeared in the stone, making this great project unusable, and the work was abandoned.
After finishing your exploration, we will take you back to your hotel.
